Jonathan Nex became a full time carpenter four years ago, following twenty years spent woodworking as an amateur. During this time he has built two wooden boats, numerous garden buildings, Shaker and Swedish style furniture, wendyhouses, pergolas, gates and doors.

His playframe constructed for Chelsea Gold Medallist Alison Wear was part of a garden which came first in the category ' Best garden Under Sixty Thousand Pounds ' in the Landscape Garden Society Awards 2010.

Jonathan prefers to use locally sourced timber wherever possible and draws his inspiration from the traditional wooden buildings of many countries and eras. He has an extensive library of books detailing the applications of wooden structures in gardens stretching back over a hundred years.

Jonathan is currently working on a private commission for a cedar garden room with balustraded verandah, in a stunning location overlooking the Axe valley.

Jonathan Nex is available for work anywhere from the home counties to the west of England and has a gallery of work freely available to view on his ' Facebook ' pages.
